A TRIBUTE TO 9-11
On September 11, I was scheduled to fly to San Francisco from New York, and on my way to the airport, I heard the now well-known news on the radio. Not only was my flight on Tuesday, September 11 cancelled, but my flight on Friday from San Francisco to Vancouver, B.C. on September 14 was also cancelled. I could not bring myself to fly back to California, so I rented a car and drove across the USA. Everywhere I drove I saw flags flying. Before being able to fly again, I travelled more than 10,000 land miles from Connecticut to California, and then from San Francisco to Vancouver, B.C., and back again, and by train to Seattle, Washington and back, meeting Americans along the way, all who had been touched by that day. I wrote and composed this song in honor of the rescue workers and the innocent victims who lost their lives that day. In my song, OLD GLORY, our flag, personifies every human being who loves freedom, and wants to live in peace and harmony. I hope OLD GLORY, YOU'RE MY HOME inspires everyone to live in peace and harmony and to let light and wisdom guide their way.
I saw the flag flying
High above the glistening dome
waiving its stars and stripes
Old Glory You're My Home
For Freedom is Old Glory's Way
With Light and Wisdom as her guide
With Strength and Beauty by her side
Old Glory, You're My Home
I saw America begin to smile
As I drove 3000 miles
Tragedy had struck her heart
It could never tear her apart
For Freedom is Old Glory's Way
Love and Hope and Charity
Old Glory, you're what we want to be
Human beings free
I saw the flag flying
High above the glistening dome
Love and Freedom everywhere
Old Glory, You're My Home
For Freedom is Your Message
And Tolerance is your way
With Faith and Hope renewed
Old Glory, You're My Home
I saw the flag flying
high above the glistening dome
waiving its stars and stripes
Old Glory, You're My Home
For Freedom is Old Glory's way
With Light and Wisdom as her guide
To live in Peace and Harmony
Old Glory, You're My Home
To live in Peace and Harmony
Old Glory, You're My Home
OLD GLORY YOU'RE MY HOME
